Approximately 40 pubs a month are closing down\u201a due to various reasons\u201a smoking ban\u201a excessive duty on beer\u201a recession\u201a rates and rents too high to make a lot of pubs viable. I agree there are some poor pubs in grotty areas which probably have seen better times\u201a and with our changing habits aligning with our continental friends\u201a in alot of us now drinking wine at home\u201a it is obvious we will get natural wastage. But pubs are this countries culture\u201a support them where you can. Join CAMRA\u201a it is cheap per year\u201a you get goodies\u201a and there are so many beer festivals in lovely parts of the country including a circular walk or a railway journey close by. Many micro breweries have set up in the last 5 years enhancing the beer range all over the country. Try them out you are missing out if you don&#8217;t.
