So the government appoint this Porteous lady (careful) lets be avenue more to the point‚ to inject ideas in to the high street with rate rebates. Old hat my dear‚ see our main page under the Big Issue‚ we had the idea years ago. I’ll tell how we can do this. We need to generate apprentice schemes to encourage the growth in the high street of independent shops selling products just like you see in every continental town and city. We must make it financially viable and create an image where it is seen as adding value‚ and carries prestige to own and run a shop selling individual items‚ not jack of all trades and master of none. Bakers‚ fruit and veg‚ butchers‚ haberdashery‚ the list is endless. A certain moustached german once said we are a nation of shopkeepers‚ well we aren’t now‚ just a country full of souless supermarkets. Even they are now trying to get us to self service tills‚ whilst charging us the same price if we go through the main tills. Sod them lets change this country and get back to the values we once had.
