Just had the most superb weekend in the company of a retired ex’ Wing Commander having stayed in his lovely home with his delightful wife. Breakfast this morning was served on china plates comprising home made scones and home made bread using german flour. Nothing was too much trouble. We talked about the state of the country and the demise of respect and standards with modern society in England. This gentleman who is over 70 years of age is the last of a dying breed in which manners‚ courtesy & respect will die out with his passing. It was akin to being in England in the 50’s after the war with the British bull dog spirit and a lifestyle one can only dream of. I was truely honoured to have spent some time in his company‚ and was reminded of a time gone by when you only saw this type of English gentleman in the RAF war movies‚ let alone to meet his type in the flesh. Oh what a shame this lovely country of ours has become. His personal reflection of where we went wrong as a nation was in the sixties‚ when we lost the standards and discipline during the flower power era. I could not disagree with his views. If only the young ones could spend some time in this lovely mans company.
