Watching the re-run of Churchills funeral by Paxman. Just imangine the 16 RAF lightning jets flying overhead‚ and the jibs of the cranes dipping in tribute‚ however‚ the dockers were paid to do it on a Saturday afternoon reluctantly‚ as they didn’t warm to him‚ as they didn’t see him as a friend of the working man. I remember the funeral as a 9 year old boy. Two years after Kennedys funeral‚ and 1 year before England won the World Cup. What a wonderful period in our history and in my mind such better times.
